Little Pork Ribs

Sorry we haven't posted in a while. I just finished second semester at Parsons like five days ago and don't know if you've noticed but Jerry doesn't post. BUT it doesn't mean we still haven't been cooking!!!! Although on some really sad nights we were both so busy/tired/lazy/trying to be healthy that we ate cabbage and rice for dinner.

ANYWAY, this is a dish my old housekeeper Rebecca (What up Rebecca!) and my mom used to make. Jason- you know this one. The recipe consists of cooking pork ribs in sugar, 2 kinds of soy sauce, cooking wine and something else i forget. It's supposed to turn out really gooey and kind of black but i think i messed up somewhere. they were also too salty. :/ Also they are supposed to all be in cubes like ice cubes but jerry didn't have the right knife. I'm not sure I'll give this dish another go anytime soon.

Jerry's got crabs!!!

One of Jerry's favorite dishes in LA is the Beer Crab from Oak Tree Inn in South Pasadena, CA. Since I've never had it before, Jerry tried to recreate it for me with a little help from his brother, Tim (http://www.yelp.com/biz/tutto-amore-gelato-laguna-beach). We took a small trip to Chinatown and a couple hours later...tada! The Beer Crab is made by steaming dungeoness crabs in beer, eggs, garlic and bay leaf. We also bought some soy sauce chicken and Chinese spinach to complete the meal...It was delicious!!!!!!! PS we named the crab Fred.

Ox tail soup for the soul!

To prove I could be a domestic, Chinese girlfriend I made Jerry Ox tail soup. The ox tail was kinda overcooked but it still tasted just like Mom had made it. Jerry says "Yo mama de wei dao" Along with the oxtail soup we cooked Chinese red sausage in rice and bok choy!

Turkey Bolognese, ole!

This recipe was inspired by a turkey meatball bolognese that my sister-in-law Jennifer (excellentadventures09.blogspot.com) was making one night for a potluck she was going to. My friend Irene (hi-fashions.blogspot.com) and I watched her with watering mouths then went straight to Trader Joes after and created our own sans the meatballs- too much work- too hungry. A couple weeks later I made it for Jerry. He says "It was delicious....and I want you to make it for me again."
